This well-appointed year round
island beach house is on
the same site as the 1812 saltwater farmhouse which regrettably burned in
1995. Bordering Casco Bay and having expansive views of inner and outer
islands from nearly every room, the property encompasses a 20 acre
peninsula. With over 1,500 feet of private and pristine sandy beach
including deep water and tidal shorefront, Sunnyside is every ocean lover’s dream
come true.

The front deck is the ideal
spot for sipping your morning coffee as you watch the first rays of sun peek
over the horizon to greet you. It’s also a great vantage point for watching
working tuna and lobster boats along with grand windjammers, classic yachts,
and sailboats with their colorful spinnakers.
(Psst! If someone beats you to the hammock, this is the place to relax
and daydream.) |

For a change of pace from
beach parties and bonfires, the large rear deck with grill, picnic table,
and bench seats is the place for entertaining. Overlooking the
gardens and meadow towards the tidal cove and woodlands, you’ll find the
sunsets are nearly as magnificent as the sunrises. You may catch a glimpse
of deer and fox near the woodlands or perhaps osprey, heron, and egrets in
the saltwater marsh. Even an occasional moose has been known to visit our
meadow from time to time! |

The breakfast bar and the
dining area, shown here, have a nautical theme. The formal dining room which
adjoins a second larger kitchen leads into the family room. These overlook
the ocean on one side and the tidal cove, gardens, meadow, and woodlands on
the other. Sunnyside is ideal for both multi-generational families and
large groups having similar or diverse interests. With two fully-equipped
kitchens including microwaves and dishwashers, you'll have more time for
enjoying your family and friends and the inspiring Maine coast.

Opening onto the front deck
via sliders, both the family room and the living room, shown here, boast large
picture windows overlooking the ocean and expansive sandy beach. Each has
its own satellite receiver, TV, VCR, and CD/cassette. Combine these
amenities with the scenery, vast array of activities, and close proximity to
all southern Maine events and you have an unforgettable vacation in store. |

On the main floor are two
baths and two bedrooms furnished with a double and two singles. These in
addition to two upstairs
bedrooms with a queen and bunk beds and a sleep sofa allow ten to
sleep comfortably.
With arrangements made in advance, select areas for camping and overflow
are also available. Caretakers or owners are generally nearby on an adjacent
property to provide information and assistance as needed, to
ensure any problems that may arise are resolved quickly, and to care for
Sunnyside's extensive grounds and gardens. All told, this makes Sunnyside the perfect spot for
your family reunion and other large gatherings.
